A Fresh Start: Why everything is gone

If you’ve clicked onto the site today and noticed that things look a wee bit scarce, you aren’t imagining it.

The old blog is dead. May it rest in peace.

Behind the scenes, I recently had to migrate the site to a new hosting provider. Thanks to a spectacular technical disaster during the move, my entire archive of past content was completely wiped out. Years of posts, photos, and digital rambling have vanished into thin air.

As a Scot, my natural instinct when everything goes horribly wrong is to laugh, have a mild existential crisis, and then just get on with it. I won’t lie, watching years of work evaporate instantly felt like a punch to the throat. But once the initial annoyance wore off, I realized there is a certain beautiful, chaotic freedom in a total catastrophe.

It turns out nothing motivates you quite like accidentally incinerating your entire digital footprint.

So, we are starting from scratch. While the old posts are gone, the site is faster, the hosting is sorted, and I have a completely blank slate to work with.

Here is what you can expect moving forward:

  • Fresh Content: New ideas, updates, and stories coming your way regularly.
  • Fewer Ghosts: A cleaner, less cluttered space now that the past has been forcefully deleted for me.
  • The Resurrection: Over the coming months, I might resurrect a few favorite topics from the dead and rewrite them.

Thank you for your patience, your grace, and for sticking around to watch me rebuild from the ashes. The digital walls are empty right now, but the comeback starts today.

Stay tuned; the first real post drops when I can be arsed to be honest.
